We have exciting news for Canadian beekeepers! Véto-pharma is thrilled to announce that Apivar® 2.0 and Amiflex® have both received federal registration in Canada and will be available from May 2026 through our trusted distribution partners, BeeMaid and Dancing Bee. Two tools, one clear mission: giving Canadian beekeepers effective and convenient solutions to fight varroa mites.
The varroa mite (Varroa destructor) remains the greatest biological threat facing honey bee colonies worldwide. Managing it effectively requires a combination of monitoring, strategy, and the right treatment tools, what we call an Integrated Pest Management (IPM) approach.
With the Canadian registration of both Apivar® 2.0 and Amiflex®, Véto-pharma is now bringing two complementary amitraz-based treatments to market: one slow-release strip for spring and fall treatments, and one ready-to-use gel designed for fast, targeted knock-down during the season. Together, they offer Canadian beekeepers, hobbyists and commercial operators alike, tools for an integrated and flexible varroa management strategy.
Apivar 2.0 is the result of years of dedicated R&D at Véto-pharma. Apivar 2.0 addresses the critical need for rapid action, the formulation of Apivar® 2.0 is specifically designed to ensure a large decrease in mite population during the first 3 weeks of the treatment. As previously explained in a blog post, formulation is the key factor — not concentration alone. Field studies show a significant mite drop in the first three weeks of treatment.
Apivar 2.0 features an innovative hanging system that eliminates the need for toothpicks or other improvised tools. The adaptable strip length is compatible with multiple hive types, including Langstroth and Dadant configurations. A pre-cut line has been added specifically for Langstroth users to simplify placement between brood frames.
Apivar 2.0 is available in 4, 12, and 60-strip packs, suitable for both hobbyist and commercial beekeeping operations.

Amiflex is an innovative amitraz based product in varroa management: the first registered amitraz gel flash treatment in Canada. Specifically designed for commercial beekeeping operations, Amiflex delivers a rapid knock-down effect on varroa mites in just 7 days, even in the presence of brood.
This makes Amiflex an ideal solution when fast mite reduction is needed, for example:
Please note: Amiflex does not replace long-acting treatments. It is designed as an additional tool within a comprehensive varroa control strategy. Treatment must always be carried out without honey supers.
One of Amiflex’s key strengths is its ready-to-use gel format. No preparation is needed. Simply insert the syringe into the dedicated dosing gun and apply. The gun ensures accurate, consistent dosing of 3 mL per application:
In case of high infestation, up to two consecutive applications may be carried out, with a 7-day interval between treatments (maximum 2 applications per year per colony).
Amiflex is available in two formats, each covering up to 200 single-brood hives or 100 double-brood hives:
