by Véto-pharma Véto-pharma has just obtained the EPA federal registration for Amiflex® 2.0, a 7-day-flash treatment for varroa mites that has been specially designed for commercial operations, and available without an RUP license.
In spring 2023, we launched Amiflex®, the first registered amitraz “flash” treatment in U.S. without temperature constraints. However, Amiflex has been classified under RUP (Restricted Use Pesticides) status, meaning it can only be applied by certified users who have completed specialized training and are licensed by state or federal authorities.
Driven by our commitment to offering a more accessible, license-free solution in USA, we took decisive action and introduced a fully accessible treatment for all beekeepers – Amiflex® 2.0 – delivering the same trusted performance as the original Amiflex®.
Amiflex® 2.0 maintains the same formulation, packaging, and conditions of use as the original Amiflex®. The key difference lies in its regulatory status: Amiflex® 2.0 no longer requires an RUP license. This new registration significantly broadens access, allowing all U.S. beekeepers to use a ready-to-apply treatment that remains safe for bees, honey, and operators.
Amiflex® 2.0 is a 7-day treatment that can be used 1-4 times a year. The gel formulation is a flash treatment of amitraz, achieving 94% efficacy on the 3rd day of application and 100% on the 7th day in broodless colonies. As a result, the mite infestation of the colony quickly decreases. Amiflex® 2.0 also ensures a quick knock-down of varroa mites with one or two applications, before the long action treatment.
Its ability to be applied between honey flows and without temperature restrictions makes Amiflex® 2.0 an ideal solution for year-round varroa management across diverse climates and operation sizes.

Following the EPA’s federal approval, Amiflex® 2.0 will soon be distributed to beekeepers across the United States, in accordance with local state registrations. We will keep you informed as soon as the product becomes available through your distributors.
